Extra Large Fabric Banners NZ – Quick Guide

Our custom extra large banners are made for high-impact walls, fences, buildings, sports grounds and event backdrops, with online prices from $200 and our best price guarantee.

Use this product when your banner is more than 1.5m high.
We can print an extra large banner from 1.51m to 3m high in one seamless piece, with no horizontal join or stitching through the artwork.

Banner 1.5m high or less?
Choose one of our smaller fabric banner products in Section 3. Each fabric uses different printing equipment and pricing.

Banner more than 3m high?
We can join printed panels. Where joining is acceptable, very large widths and lengths are possible; contact us for sizes above the online 34m² range.

Included finishing: metal eyelets approximately every 500mm around all edges. Velcro finishing is available at extra cost.

Production planning: timing depends on the finished size, fabric and whether panels must be joined. Please tell us your required date before ordering if the deadline is important.

2. Choose the Best Fabric for Your Custom Extra Large Banner

Fabric
Recommended Use
130gsm Mesh Net
  • Open mesh construction allows more air to pass through.
  • Best choice for exposed fences and higher-wind locations.
  • Single-layer print: correct reading on the front and mirrored on the reverse.
130gsm Standard Polyknit
  • Lightweight, economical fabric for large promotional displays.
  • Suitable when some show-through is acceptable.
  • Correct reading on the front and mirrored on the reverse.
160gsm Silky Satin
  • Smooth premium surface for fine detail and high-resolution printing.
  • Recommended for indoor displays and presentation-focused backdrops.
  • No show-through for a cleaner front-facing result.
250gsm Thick Polyknit

  • Velcro has an additional cost and must be selected separately.
  • Add Velcro tape finishing or contact us to confirm the required sides and orientation.

5. How to Calculate Extra Large Banner Size and Price

Calculate the printed area in square metres:

Banner width (m) × banner height (m) = total area (m²)

For example, a 5m wide × 2m high banner is 10m². Select the fabric first, then select the matching area bracket. If your calculated area falls between available options, choose the next higher bracket. The online product range is 3m² to 34m²; contact us for a quote above 34m² or when joined panels need special planning.

The same online price brackets currently apply to all four fabric options. See the complete price list in Section 11.

6. Extra Large Banner Artwork Requirements

There is no fixed artwork template because every custom large banner can have different dimensions. Set your document to the ordered finished size, or to an exact scale, and clearly label the scale.

  • Add 20mm bleed on all four sides at final size.
  • Keep important text, logos and faces away from the finished edges, eyelets and any planned panel joins.
  • Vector PDF, AI, EPS or SVG artwork is preferred.
  • Bitmap images should normally be at least 100dpi at final printed size.
  • Use CMYK or Pantone colours where possible.
  • Convert fonts to outlines or curves, or embed all fonts.
  • Supply a print-ready PDF and include the exact finished width and height in the file name or order notes.
  • Large files can be sent through WeTransfer.

7. Uses for Huge Outdoor and Indoor Fabric Banners

Custom extra large banner printing is suitable for large-scale advertising and event displays where standard banner dimensions do not provide enough visibility.

  • Outdoor fence banners and long site-boundary graphics
  • Building walls, façades and building wraps
  • Sports fields, stadium signage and club sponsorship displays
  • Event backdrops, stage graphics and large indoor walls
  • School, council and community project signage
  • Trade shows, exhibitions and business promotions
  • Oversized flags or fabric displays where the proposed installation is suitable

8. Installing an Extra Large Outdoor Banner Safely

  • Confirm that the wall, fence, frame and fixings are suitable for the banner's size, weight and expected wind load.
  • Obtain any required property-owner or local approvals before installation.
  • Use all practical eyelets and distribute tension evenly; do not suspend a large banner from the four corners only.
  • Keep fabric clear of sharp edges and surfaces that can repeatedly rub or snag it.
  • Choose 130gsm mesh for more exposed sites, while recognising that mesh still creates wind load.
  • Remove the banner during storms or severe weather, and inspect fixings regularly.

Large and elevated installations may require a qualified installer or engineer. Flagseller supplies the printed banner; the customer or installer is responsible for assessing the site and fixing method.

10. Extra Large Fabric Banner FAQ

When should I order an Extra Large Fabric Banner?

Use this page when the finished banner is more than 1.5m high. Banners from 1.51m to 3m high can be printed in one seamless piece, subject to the confirmed layout and fabric orientation.

Which product should I use for a fabric banner 1.5m high or less?

Choose the smaller banner product that matches your required fabric: mesh, standard polyknit, thick polyknit, silky satin or silver-backed blockout satin.

Can you print a banner more than 3m high?

Yes, but the banner must be produced in panels and joined. Where a join is acceptable, very large widths and lengths are possible. Contact us to plan the panels and quote sizes above the 34m² online range.

Which fabric is best for an outdoor large banner in a windy location?

Choose 130gsm mesh net because its open construction allows more airflow than solid fabric. It is not windproof, so the site and fixing method must still be assessed and the banner should be removed during severe weather.

Which fabric is best for a premium indoor backdrop?

Choose 160gsm silky satin for a smooth surface and fine-detail printing, or 250gsm thick polyknit for a stronger, more substantial backdrop with no show-through.

Are eyelets included with a custom extra large banner?

Yes. Metal eyelets approximately every 500mm around all edges are included.

Can you add Velcro to a large fabric banner?

Yes. Velcro finishing is available at extra cost. Add the Velcro finishing option and confirm which edges require it.

How do I calculate the price bracket for my huge banner?

Multiply the width in metres by the height in metres. Select the matching area bracket, or the next higher bracket when your result falls between available sizes. Contact us above 34m².

Is there an artwork template for an extra large custom banner?

No. Each banner can have different dimensions, so there is no fixed template. Create artwork at finished size or an exact labelled scale, and include 20mm bleed on all sides at final size.

How long does extra large banner printing take?

Production time depends on the finished size, chosen fabric and whether panels must be joined. Tell us your required date before ordering so we can confirm the appropriate production plan.

Flag and Banner Maintenance

While our high precision sewing and heavy-duty European ink is at the best of the best in the market, the inevitable wear of time will fade your flags and banners. Here are some quick tips to keep your flags or banners in a longer lifetime:

1. Keep out of direct sunlight when not needed - our UV-resistant European ink still fare better without UV rays

2. Ensure there are NO nearby rough walls, poles or plants that will damage the fabric - constant friction may cause irregular tear, as the number one reason for failure.

3. Make sure the flag or banner is setup correctly - push flag to the end of pole tip and tie the cord stopper accordingly

4. Keep your poles for your teardrop or feather banners away from surrounding objects - avoid pole damage caused by collision with other strong obstacles due to wind

5. Not for very windy days - it's a good idea to take down your large banners if wind speeds exceed 55km/h, your small banners if wind speeds exceed 65km/h

6. Wash only when necessary - when washing do not use detergent, rinse in water only, no washing machine.
