Custom Bunting NZ – Quick Guide

Each string: 20 metres long with 50 custom bunting flags. Standard flag size is approximately 300 × 200mm, available in triangle or rectangle shapes.

Material and printing: full-colour digital printing on durable 110gsm outdoor polyknit fabric, with hot-cut edges and strong bunting tape/string. Standard printed bunting is single-sided, with colour showing through more lightly and mirrored on the reverse.

Multiple designs: include up to 5 different designs on each 20m string at no extra cost. Different strings in the same order can also use completely different artwork.

Production: normally around 5 working days after payment and artwork approval. Large orders or strings containing many different designs may take longer, so tell us your required date before ordering.

How pricing works: the displayed price is the unit price for one 20m string at the selected quantity tier. For example, to order 10 strings, select the 10–14 tier and set the cart quantity to 10.

Current prices: from $61 + GST per triangle string for 50+ strings. One triangle string is $105 + GST and one rectangle string is $127 + GST.

2. Triangle or Rectangle Custom Bunting Flags?

Shape
Best Use
Triangle Custom Bunting
  • The traditional bunting shape.
  • A cost-effective choice for colour, simple logos and decorative patterns.
  • Popular for festivals, parties, schools, promotions and outdoor events.
  • Lower unit price than rectangle bunting.
Rectangle Custom Flag Bunting
  • More usable print area for logos, words and detailed artwork.
  • Often better for corporate branding, sponsors and multiple business identities.
  • Suitable for retail stores, councils, trade events and long promotional runs.
  • Priced higher because of the additional fabric and finishing.

If you are unsure which shape will make your artwork easiest to read, send us the logo and wording. We can recommend the most suitable option before you order.

3. How Custom Printed Bunting Quantity and Pricing Work

Each product quantity represents one 20m string. The variant selected sets the unit-price tier; the cart quantity sets how many strings you are buying.

  1. Choose Triangle or Rectangle.
  2. Select the tier matching the total number of strings in the order.
  3. Set the cart quantity to the actual number of 20m strings required.

40m
2 strings
60m
3 strings

5 strings

Different artwork can still share the quantity price. For example, 5 strings using Design A plus 5 strings using Design B equals 10 strings in one order. Select the 10–14 tier and set the cart quantity to 10.

See the complete live unit-price table in Section 11.

4. Multiple Designs on Custom Printed Bunting Flags

Custom printed bunting can repeat one design or combine several logos, faces, colours or messages.

  • Include up to 5 different designs on each string at no extra cost.
  • Each string in the same order can use completely different artwork.
  • Ten different designs on one string can be produced with a current additional charge of approximately 10% for manual sorting and assembly; contact us before ordering.
  • More designs can increase production time.
  • Blank flags can be alternated with printed flags, but the price remains the same because most production cost is in printing setup, sorting and assembly.

Please state the required arrangement clearly. Tell us which designs belong on each string, the sequence in which they should repeat, and whether the designs should be distributed equally. We will prepare a mockup for your approval before production.

The product page accepts one artwork upload. For several designs, combine the files into a ZIP folder or a multi-page PDF, and label each file clearly.

5. Single-Sided vs Double-Sided Printed Flag Bunting

Printing Option
What You Will See
Single-Sided – Standard Online Option
  • Correct-reading artwork on the main printed side.
  • Colour shows through more lightly on the reverse.
  • Logos and wording appear mirrored from the reverse side.
  • Best value and suitable for most custom flag bunting installations.
Double-Sided – Custom Quote
  • Made as a special order when correct-reading artwork is needed from both directions.
  • Requires extra printed fabric and substantially more assembly.
  • Usually costs approximately three times the standard single-sided bunting.
  • Contact us with the quantity, shape and artwork requirements for a quote.

We recommend keeping all single-sided flags facing the same direction. Alternating the front and reverse of every second flag can look inconsistent because the reverse is lighter and mirrored.

6. Printed Bunting Artwork, PDF and Canva Templates

Use the correct bunting shape to keep logos, text and important details clear of the hot-cut edges and attachment area.

Print-Ready Artwork Requirements

  • Vector PDF, AI, EPS or SVG artwork is preferred.
  • A high-resolution PNG can also be accepted for suitable simple artwork.
  • Extend background colours and images into the template bleed.
  • Keep important logos and words inside the safe area.
  • Convert fonts to outlines or curves.
  • Use CMYK or Pantone Solid Coated colour references where possible.
  • For several designs, upload one ZIP file or one multi-page PDF.
  • Name the files in the required sequence and explain the arrangement in the order notes.

We will prepare a bunting mockup for approval before printing. If no Pantone colour is supplied, we will normally use the CMYK values in the artwork. For colour-critical work, compare our fabric colour swatch sheet for colour matching.

7. Outdoor Use, Rain, Reuse and Storage

Our printed bunting NZ customers order is made from the same 110gsm polyknit used for single-sided outdoor flags. It is fabric rather than PVC.

  • Suitable for indoor displays and temporary outdoor events.
  • Normal rain is not a problem during an event.
  • The strong bunting tape/string will generally outlast flags exposed to damaging wind.
  • Indoor bunting can normally be used many times when handled and stored carefully.
  • Outdoor lifespan depends on wind, weather, UV exposure and how continuously it is displayed. Many customers use it for one event; it may last for a couple of months in suitable conditions.
  • Take the bunting down during strong winds or storms.
  • Allow wet bunting to dry completely before folding and storing it.
  • Keep the flags clear of rough walls, branches, sharp edges and other surfaces that can rub or snag the fabric.

8. Uses for Custom Printed Bunting

Custom printed bunting flags create repeated branding across a long area without requiring a separate sign at every position.

  • Festivals, community events and council projects
  • School fairs, sports days and cultural celebrations
  • Retail stores, store openings and shopping areas
  • Trade shows, food shows and exhibition stands
  • Golf days, sports clubs and sponsor areas
  • Corporate events, product launches and promotions
  • Birthdays, weddings and private celebrations
  • Street decorations and business district displays

10. Custom Bunting NZ FAQ – Real Customer Questions

Can different artwork still receive the combined quantity price?

Yes, when all strings are placed in one order. For example, 5 strings with one design and 5 strings with another design qualify for the 10-string price tier.

How many different designs can be printed on one bunting string?

Up to 5 designs can be repeated on one 20m string at no extra cost. More designs require additional sorting and may cost extra. Ten designs currently add approximately 10%; contact us before ordering.

How should I explain the order of multiple designs?

Number the files in the required order and state how many times each design should appear. Add the sequence and any string-by-string instructions to the order notes. We will prepare a mockup for approval before printing.

How do I upload several artwork files when there is only one upload field?

Combine the designs into one ZIP folder or one multi-page PDF. Label each design clearly and explain which artwork belongs on each string.

Should I choose triangle or rectangle printed bunting?

Triangle is the traditional and more economical option. Rectangle provides more usable space for logos, words and sponsor branding, but it costs more because it uses additional fabric and finishing.

Is custom flag bunting printed on one side or both sides?

The standard online product is single-sided. The main side is correct-reading; colours show through more lightly and artwork appears mirrored on the reverse. Double-sided bunting is available by custom quote and normally costs around three times as much.

Should every second single-sided flag face the opposite direction?

We recommend keeping all printed faces in the same direction. Alternating directions can look inconsistent because every reverse side is lighter and mirrored.

Can blank flags be alternated with printed flags?

Yes. However, the price remains the same because most of the work is in printing setup, sorting and assembling the full string.

Can custom printed bunting be used outside or in the rain?

Yes. The 110gsm polyknit fabric is made for outdoor flag use, and normal rain during an event is not a problem. Take it down during strong winds or storms and dry it completely before storage.

Can fabric bunting be reused?

Yes. It can normally be reused many times indoors when handled carefully. Outdoor life depends on wind, weather, UV exposure and continuous display time. Take it down carefully, make sure it is dry and store it away from sharp objects.

Can I see the material before placing a large order?

Yes. Order a free fabric sample and pay only the shipping fee. For colour-critical projects, use our fabric colour swatch sheet.

Do you provide a custom bunting artwork template?
What artwork files should I supply?

Vector PDF, AI, EPS or SVG is preferred. A suitable high-resolution PNG may also work. Convert fonts to outlines and provide Pantone Solid Coated or CMYK colour references when available.

Can you match our organisation's brand colour?

Supply a Pantone Solid Coated code ending in C where possible. Otherwise we can print from the CMYK values in your artwork. Printed fabric, screens and paper can display colours differently, so use our fabric swatch sheet or request a test-print discussion for colour-critical work.

Can you make a custom flag size, shorter string or extra blank tape at each end?

Custom sizes and special finishing may be possible, but the online prices are for 20m strings with 50 standard-size flags. Contact us before ordering with the required flag dimensions, finished length, spacing and blank leader length.

Can you print a professional sports team or another organisation's logo?

Only when you own the artwork or have permission to reproduce it. We cannot print copyrighted or trademarked branding without the rights holder's authorisation.

How long does custom bunting printing take in NZ?

Normal production is around 5 working days after payment and artwork approval. Large quantities or many-design strings may take longer. Courier delivery time is additional, so tell us your required date before ordering and allow enough time for delivery.

Flag and Banner Maintenance

While our high precision sewing and heavy-duty European ink is at the best of the best in the market, the inevitable wear of time will fade your flags and banners. Here are some quick tips to keep your flags or banners in a longer lifetime:

1. Keep out of direct sunlight when not needed - our UV-resistant European ink still fare better without UV rays

2. Ensure there are NO nearby rough walls, poles or plants that will damage the fabric - constant friction may cause irregular tear, as the number one reason for failure.

3. Make sure the flag or banner is setup correctly - push flag to the end of pole tip and tie the cord stopper accordingly

4. Keep your poles for your teardrop or feather banners away from surrounding objects - avoid pole damage caused by collision with other strong obstacles due to wind

5. Not for very windy days - it's a good idea to take down your large banners if wind speeds exceed 55km/h, your small banners if wind speeds exceed 65km/h

6. Wash only when necessary - when washing do not use detergent, rinse in water only, no washing machine.
