2. Feather Flag Pole and Base Compatibility
Check the base spindle before ordering. The bottom of each pole has a 14.5mm internal hole and fits a base spindle between 14.0mm and 14.4mm. Our standard flag bases use an approximately 14.2mm spindle.
A 16mm spindle is too large. If your base came from another supplier, measure the spindle diameter or send us a clear photo before ordering.
The same feather flag pole can move between different compatible bases as the display location changes. Compare all seven compatible bases for feather flag poles on one page.
3. Which Compatible Feather Flag Base Should I Use?
- For grass or firm soil, choose a ground spike base for feather flags.
- For regular use on concrete, a 10kg steel plate feather flag base provides a clean, durable setup.
- For more solid ballast on a hard surface, compare the 20kg steel plate feather flag base or the portable water tank base for feather flags.
- For exhibitions and temporary indoor displays, the cross base with water weight bag is compact and easy to carry.
- For real estate open homes or vehicle-based displays, use a car wheel feather flag base under the wheel of a stationary vehicle.
- For a fixed wall or fence position, use a wall-mounted feather flag base.
No portable flag base is storm-proof. Choosing a heavier base does not make it safe to leave a feather flag outside during severe weather.
4. Compact Feather Flag Poles for Travel and Small Cars
Customers often ask whether a long feather flag pole will fit inside a small car. Both pole sets break down to a maximum section length of approximately 1.47m. They fit our 1.5m feather flag pole carry bag, which makes storage, travel between events and transport by a small car much easier than carrying a one-piece pole. The carry bag is not included with this pole-only product unless stated separately in your order.
To assemble the pole, connect all sections fully before sliding the flexible pole through the flag sleeve. Do not force a joint or use the pole if a section is cracked, badly worn or not fully seated.
5. How to Help Fibreglass Feather Flag Poles Last for Years
Fibreglass feather flag poles are extremely robust when correctly assembled, used on a compatible rotating spindle and taken down during severe weather. With proper use, they can last for years.
Storm Damage: Strong Wind, Heavy Rain and a Waterlogged Flag
One of the most common causes of pole failure is leaving a feather flag outside when very strong wind and heavy rain occur together. The wet flag becomes heavier while the wind load increases, placing far more stress on the flexible pole. Take the complete flag down during storms, strong winds and severe rain rather than relying only on a heavier base.
Bottom-Section Damage: Old Real Estate Flag Tube Holders
Another problem reported by real estate agents is breakage near the bottom of the pole. This can happen when the fibreglass pole is inserted directly into an older flag tube holder that was not designed for the new pole. Do not insert the pole directly into the old tube. Insert a compatible ground spike securely into the existing tube first, then place the feather flag pole over the spike spindle.
- Connect every pole section fully before use.
- Use only a 14.0–14.4mm compatible rotating spindle.
- Do not bend the pole by hand or force it into the flag sleeve.
- Take the flag down during storms, strong winds and severe rain.
- Store the clean, dry pole sections in a 1.5m carry bag.
6. Related Feather and Teardrop Flag Products
If you are rebuilding an existing display, order a replacement feather flag only to match the Small or Large pole. For a new display with all parts included, choose a complete feather flag kitset with pole and base.
For a taller format, see our extra-large feather flag poles. Replacement clamps for feather flag poles and a 1.5m carry bag for feather flag poles are also available separately.
Feather and teardrop poles are different lengths and should be matched to the correct flag shape. If you use teardrop flags, order the correct fibreglass teardrop flag poles or a complete teardrop flag kitset with pole and base.

Flag and Banner Maintenance
While our high precision sewing and heavy-duty European ink is at the best of the best in the market, the inevitable wear of time will fade your flags and banners. Here are some quick tips to keep your flags or banners in a longer lifetime:
1. Keep out of direct sunlight when not needed - our UV-resistant European ink still fare better without UV rays
2. Ensure there are NO nearby rough walls, poles or plants that will damage the fabric - constant friction may cause irregular tear, as the number one reason for failure.
3. Make sure the flag or banner is setup correctly - push flag to the end of pole tip and tie the cord stopper accordingly
4. Keep your poles for your teardrop or feather banners away from surrounding objects - avoid pole damage caused by collision with other strong obstacles due to wind
5. Not for very windy days - it's a good idea to take down your large banners if wind speeds exceed 55km/h, your small banners if wind speeds exceed 65km/h
6. Wash only when necessary - when washing do not use detergent, rinse in water only, no washing machine.
